More Discovery Breakout Baseplates: Arduino and RaspberryPi

Working with popular microcontroller platforms such as Arduino, ArduinoMega, and RaspberryPi is now easier thanks to a selection of new breakout baseplates just launched.

First off is a version designed for Arduino and compatibles, which differs from existing products by providing double the breadboarding space.  It includes one 400-tiepoint solderless breadboard flanking each side of the Arduino (one adjacent to each row of I/O pins).  Mounting holes and fasteners are provided to attach your Arduino UNO, Leonardo, EsduinoXtreme, etc. to the baseplate.  Non-slip rubber feet keep the whole assembly from sliding around on your desk or table.  Use standard male-to-male solderless breadboard jumper wires to quickly implement your interface circuits for testing or learning.  Click here to order DISCOBOB-ARD.

Prototyping Shields for Arduino and Compatibles

Prototyping cards have long been popular with electronics hobbyists and technologists wanting to implement a one-off project.  So far, however, there has been basically only one prototyping shield design offered for Arduino and compatibles.  Now we have greatly expanded the options by offering several new prototyping shields based on time-tested designs.

Our first four shields (ARPROTO1, ARPROTO2, ARPROTO3, and ARPROTO4) were designed for the original Arduino Duemilanove and compatibles.  We have now launched four new prototyping shields (ARPRO11, ARPRO12, ARPRO13, and ARPRO14) to accommodate the two extra header pins added to the UNO rev. 3, Leonardo, EsduinoXtreme, etc.  Also, we have changed the header footprints to dual-row to support those NXP/Freescale Freedom boards which have extra pins.  Check the datasheets to decide which layout best suits the project you have in mind:  original version or the new version.

All shields are priced at $3.00 each, or you can buy a bundle of four designs for $7.50.  We also offer a high-density solderless breadboarding shield (ARSB1)

Discovery Breakout Baseplate for popular MCU Modules

Working with popular MCU evaluation boards such as the Technological Arts Adapt9S12 series and the STM Discovery series is now easier thanks to a new versatile breakout baseplate launched today.

The Adapt9S12 version features snap-in nylon standoffs and non-slip rubber feet, and is ready to accept any of the dual-header style Adapt9S12 MCU modules.  To be practical, the MCU module should be ordered with "F" (or "FM") style headers on H1 and H2 so that standard male-to-male solderless breadboard jumper wires can be used.  Click here to order DISCOBOB-ADAPT.

Using the STM Discovery boards in a R&D or educational lab environment is especially challenging because they lack mounting holes.  The DISCOBOB-STM breakout baseplates solve this issue by securing the board to the baseplate via four receptacle sections that mate with the board's pins at four corners.  Two versions are offered--  one for the single-row, dual-header STM32x0 style boards (e.g. STM32F0 and STM32L0), and another for the dual-row, dual-header STM32x4 style board (e.g. STM32F4).  Besides featuring a solderless breadboard section adjacent to each of the two headers, the baseplates come pre-assembled with mating headers and non-slip rubber feet.  Since the Discovery boards have male headers, female-to-male breaboard jumper wires will be required for constructing circuits on the breadboard sections.
